K’Ogalo’s Heartbeat Departs: League MVP Enock Morrison Joins Al Merrikh

By Boris Anditi•June 21, 2026

The Green Army’s worst fears have been realized. Just weeks after anchoring Gor Mahia to an unprecedented 22nd top-flight league title, Ghanaian midfield general Enock Morrison has chosen to take his career to the next level. The Omdurman-based juggernauts officially unveiled the midfield maestro on Sunday morning, June 21, 2026, confirming he has penned a lucrative three-year contract that runs until June 2029.

Because his contract with the reigning Kenyan Premier League champions had expired, Morrison moves north as a free agent. While it represents an elite sporting and financial upgrade for the player, the fact that K’Ogalo will not pocket a transfer fee for the most dominant player in the country adds financial salt to a deep tactical wound.

Morrison arrived in Nairobi from Asante Kotoko in July 2024. After navigating a difficult, trophyless debut campaign marred by technical bench instability, his second season under Charles Akonnor was nothing short of a tactical masterpiece.

Operating as the undisputed metronome in the engine room, Morrison dictated tempo, broke lines, and scored crucial goals during K’Ogalo’s dramatic title charge. He wrapped up his Kenyan stay by sweeping the individual honors at the end-of-season awards gala night:
SportPesa League Most Valuable Player (MVP)
Midfielder of the Season

The timing of Morrison’s departure leaves Gor Mahia facing a massive structural headache. The technical bench is currently trying to build a squad capable of navigating the preliminary rounds of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League. Losing a player who won over 60 duels, provided 15 Man of the Match performances, and registered 7 goal involvements (3 goals, 4 assists) from deep creates a void that will require significant scouting to replace.
Meanwhile, Al Merrikh did not hide their immense excitement at snatching Kenya’s premier talent to reinforce their own continental ambitions.
”Ghana Black Stars midfielder Enock Morrison is a new soldier in the leader's battalion until 2029, arriving from Kenyan club Gor Mahia FC. Welcome, Morrison, to the most decorated club in Sudan. Leave your mark, as all champions have passed through here,” read the official welcoming statement from Al Merrikh.
